This van is part of the Ford E-Series that offers a broad range of full-size vans, wagons, cutaways, and stripped chassis. The vehicles in the E-Series can be configured with GVWRs that range from 8,520 to 14,500 pounds. These hardworking vehicles are ideal for moving products, people, and equipment. Trades, fleets, community groups and other organizations have made the E-Series America’s favorite full-size van for over 30 years.
The Ford Econoline name has been around since 1961. The most recent version of the Econoline Cargo Van was produced from 2008-2014. The van was available in E-150 and heavy-duty E-250 and E-350 capacities. The base Econoline comes with the bare minimum, but can be customized based on the customer’s needs. The standard passenger-side cargo opening included a pair of barn-style swinging doors, but could be replaced with a minivan-type sliding door if requested.
The Econolines offered a choice of three engine options. The E-150 and E-250 came standard with a 4.6-liter V8 rated at 225 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. Optional on those versions but standard on the E-350 was the 5.4-liter V8 that made a more robust 255 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.
The Econoline Cargo had its first significant upgrade in 1997 with a redesigned dashboard and updated exterior. Notable changes occurred in 2008 with modifications to the steering, braking and suspension systems that improved driving dynamics.
